Career & Business

A Life of Service to Families

After graduating from Keenan, Brian earned an Associate Degree in Mortuary Science from Gupton-Jones College in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1996. He began his career at Palmer Memorial Chapel and later spent nine years with Leevy's Funeral Home, eventually serving as Assistant Managing Director. In 2009, Brian became a business owner when he purchased McCollom Funeral Home and established Myers Mortuary and Cremation Services. In 2018, he expanded the business to its current Alpine Road location, where he continues to serve families throughout the Midlands.

Brian's professional career has been centered on serving families during some of their most difficult moments — a calling that has deepened his commitment to community and his understanding of what families in Richland County truly need.

Investing in Richland One

More Than a Donor — A Partner

Over the years, Brian and Myers Mortuary have built relationships with and supported numerous Richland One schools. For Brian, supporting Richland One has never simply been about making a donation or appearing at an event. It has been about investing in the students, educators, families, and communities that make the district successful.

His board service includes the Greater Historic Waverly Development Corporation, Center for Community and Family Transitions, Richland County Parks and Recreation Foundation, Fortis College Advisory Board, and Midlands Habitat for Humanity. He has also been affiliated with the Boys & Girls Club of America.

Brian has partnered with Clean of Heart to provide laundry detergent for individuals experiencing homelessness and has spearheaded turkey drives to help ensure families in need have food during the holiday season — because he believes supporting children also means strengthening the families and communities surrounding them.
